The Smoky Mountains Castle burned down at the end of March 2022 alone with almost all the homes in the neighborhood in the Hatcher Mountain Fire.
Regrettably the Smoky Mountains Castle was destroyed by wildfire recently. The castle burned down, fell into the lake, and sank. While we were insured, due to inflation and recent improvements the cost to rebuild is expected to vastly exceed the amount we had insured for... so we may need to wait for lower interest rates to rebuild. We also anticipate it may take a year to complete debris removal.
The photograph below is what remains of the castle, the same view as the photo from last year that is lower on this page.

What is the Smoky Mountains Castle?
The Smoky Mountains Castle is a very large luxury home built in the 1970s.
Constructed as a fusion between a European castle and the mid century modern style of Frank Lloyd Wright, this riparian home spectacularly straddles a pond and stream at the top of an ephemeral waterfall. In 2021 the home was renovated in keeping with the original style and design of the home and furnished as a large cabin to be an ideal place to stay for large families, family reunions, gatherings of friends, weddings, corporate meetings, and other group events. It has flexible sleeping arrangements for more than 45 people but also works well for much smaller groups. The home features an indoor heated pool, a gym, a great room, a games/theater room, sitting room, dining room, 10+ bedrooms (people can't agree on the exact number) and 6.5 bathrooms. Also on the estate are a tennis court (available to guests), a lake with a paddle boat (available to guests) and a guest house (which should be also available to book early 2022). It is located in Shagbark resort (which also features another pool, another tennis court, and more that is available to guests) in Sevierville close to Pigeon Forge in Tennessee.

Come stay and leave us a review!
Yeah, we've just set this place up as a rental.
Much as we'd love to show you a bunch of reviews, unfortunately the existing visitors: bears, raccoons, catfish, birds and the snapping turtle haven't left us any.
However, our professional property managers, Vacasa (and Turnkey) of the Smoky Mountains, do have a bunch of reviews of their other cabins in the region on Airbnb and VRBO so please check them out. They have more 50 person cabins than any other property manager, and get good ratings for them, which is why we selected them.
